Howard Leighton Yancy, 90, of Lampasas, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022, at Advent Health Central Texas in Killeen. Howard was born on December 14, 1931, in Coryell County to Franklin Noble and Odessa Daniel Yancy.
Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 2 pm.
Howard was a rancher most of his life and sheared sheep and goats for many people in Lampasas and Burnet counties as well as cut cedar, built fences, and did some carpentry. He was a hard worker who had a great memory and loved telling stories and jokes, hunting, and visiting with people. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Ruth in 2010; his brothers, Daniel Yancy and Sherwood Yancy and his sister Deloyce Curry.
Survivors include his son, David Yancy, and wife Sally; daughter, Dana Smith, and husband Mark; grandchildren, Sawyer Smith and wife Marisa, Caul Smith, and wife Abbie and Quint Smith.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations are made to the Professional Fire Fighters Association of Lampasas, 1107 E. 4th St, Lampasas, TX, 76550
The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Lampasas Assisted Living for the wonderful care they gave Howard during his time there.
