Howard Wayne Jones

Howard Wayne Jones, 77, of Lampasas, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and youngest son by his side on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 4 to 6 pm. Services will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023, 2 pm, at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Wallace Creek Cemetery in San Saba. Wayne was born on August 31, 1945, in Post, TX to Raymond and Leona Jones. He was raised in San Saba and graduated from San Saba High School. He faithfully served his country in the US Airforce for four years serving time in both Germany and Korea. After serving in the military, he worked for the Texas DPS as a Highway Patrolman and then had a bread delivery route with Rainbow Bread. After this, he was employed with TX DOT as an inspector for 26 years before retiring. After retiring he and his youngest son Allan purchased a ranch together and Wayne really enjoyed his time working out there, building fences, and barns, and raising sheep, goats, and cattle. He thoroughly enjoyed being outside and working with his hands. Wayne was a believer and his faith and family were the most important things to him. He was a man who accomplished quite a bit, including earning an MBA degree. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sandra Jones of Lampasas; his sons, Michael Jones of New Jersey and Allan Jones and wife Laura Barker-Jones of Georgetown; his daughter, Susan Jones of Lampasas; brother, Jody Jones of Arkansas; sister, Mary Woods of Llano; grandchildren, Gavin Jones, Aaron Jones, Ryan Jones, and Sarah Jones.
