Helen Retter

Helen M. Retter, age 69, of Kempner, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 in Killeen. No services are scheduled at this time.

Helen was born on May 20, 1951 in Belle Plaine, Iowa to the late Louis and Ilene Linhart. She attended school in Marshalltown, Iowa. She owned and operated a house cleaning business in Marshalltown for almost 20 years. Helen then worked at Swift and for Scott’s for a number of years. Helen married Rodger Ritter on June 10, 1993. In 2008, she and Rodger moved to Texas to be closer to her family. She worked at Hawthorne Suites in Killeen where she loved greeting the guest and made many friends. Helen loved to be outdoors fishing, boating, doing yard work, and playing cards with her family. She couldn’t pass up a fresh produce stand without stopping and was always willing to go out to eat or shopping.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Gary Linhart; and her son-in-law, Tyrant Lamar Gossett Sr.

Helen is survived by her husband, Rodger Retter; daughter, Shelly Gossett; three grandsons, Trevor Saylors, Tyrant Lamar Gossett, Jr., Tytan Lamar Gossett; brother, Mike Linhart; and her sisters, Mary Ann Peshel, Rose Mary Ruth (her twin), and Lois Harrelson.
