Harold Frances Leate, Jr., age 66, of Kempner, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 17, 2017, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with military honors.
Harold was born on July 26, 1951, in Oakland, California to Harold Frances and Lorraine Francis Daman Leate. After high school, he joined the United States Army and served for 18 years. He proudly served overseas in both the Vietnam and Desert Storm conflicts during his time in the military. After the military, Frank continued his education earning his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and his Master’s degree from Concordia University. He taught middle school science and world cultures and retired as a Killeen Independent School District teacher. He loved teaching students about the fascinating planet that they lived on and worked hard to teach them life skills that would make them successful in their futures. On the weekends, he enjoyed spinning tunes, country and golden oldies mostly, as a DJ. When he had time, he was always busy building, fixing, or repairing various things for others in need.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jeffrey and Steve Leate.
Harold is survived by his daughters, Cassandra and Cassiopia Leate; son, Harold David Leate and 8 grandchildren.
