Burial will follow at Dobyville Cemetery in Burnet County. Visitation begins at the church building at 10 a.m. Mrs. Bowden died Sunday morning December 17 peacefully in her sleep. She was born June 10, 1933 in Levelland, Texas, the daughter of John William and Carrie Blanche (Weaver) Fillpot. There she was raised and attended school, along with her five sisters and one brother. During her teenage years, Glenna made frequent visits to Burnet county, where two of her elder sisters had settled in the Lake Victor area. It was during this time that she met a local young man, John Ryburn Bowden. Glenna and John were married on Sept. 2, 1951. She devoted her life to supporting her husband while he served in the military and later working with him through many successful business ventures. Raising their four children was her proudest achievement. A faithful Christian, she worshiped with her family in the local Churches of Christ in Great Falls, Montana, Dallas, Copperas Cove, Lampasas, Lake Victor, and Burnet. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed various handcrafts. After many years of co-piloting with her husband in their private airplanes, Glenna took up flying herself and obtained her pilot’s license during the mid-1980’s. She was a member of the Highland Arts Guild, National and Texas Chapter of the Antique Airplane Association, and the Lampasas Sweet Adelines. Her family fondly remembers her always singing, decorating her home, and tending to the family pets. Glenna was preceded in death by her husband John; three sisters, Marjorie Cox, May Brock, Billie Lawson; and her son-in-law Stacy Kirk. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Kay Killpatrick and husband Steven of Georgetown, and Carrie Jo Kirk of Lampasas; two sons, Eddie Bowden and wife Debby of Lampasas, and Terry Bowden and wife Leann of Moody; 14 grandchildren, Nat, Rebekah, Maurine, Amy, Jenny, Benny, Katie, Suzannah, Travis, Hannah, Rachel, Hannah-Faye, Thomas, and Emma; 13 great-grandchildren, Colton, Justin, Kailyn, Shilyn, Caleb, Landry, Taylor, Gemma, Lola D, Jeb, Easton, Sawyer, and Paxton; and two sisters, Jo Cox of Burnet, Sue Duncan of Baytown; and her brother, Kenny Fillpot of Weatherford.
