Gladden Clark Corbin was born on November 28, 1927, in Lamesa, TX, to W.H. “Buck” Corbin and Josephine Culbertson Corbin. He moved to a the Corbin “home place” in Lampasas County when he was 3 years old. He attended grade school at Clayrock and graduated from Lampasas High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Manila, the Philippine Islands. He lived in Lampasas and was a photographer, retired from civil service in the photo lab at Fort Hood. Gladden married Anneta Marlene Machen Corbin on August 17, 1951. He enjoyed history, photography and collecting cameras. Gladden enjoyed taking pictures, whether people, landscapes, flowers, local events or family. He recorded local events throughout his lifetime. His photos may be found in various publications, books, magazines, histories of this area and many family albums, along with several hundred wedding albums. Gladden enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching the birds. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family. He was a member of the First Street Church of Christ. Gladden is survived by his wife Marlene Corbin, sons, Madison “Matt” Corbin and wife, Beth Studdard Corbin and Clark Corbin; daughter Anneta Corbin Darrow and husband Ralph Darrow, all of Lampasas; grandchildren Selena Darrow Bailey and husband, Bob, of Cedar Park, Grant Corbin and wife Tabitha Moore Corbin, of Waco, Kelly Corbin Morton and husband, Stephen, of Belton; and five grandchildren: Rhys and Honor Bailey, Cason and Asher Morton, and Violet Corbin. Gladden was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Avila Machen Corbin. Visitation is Monday October 15, 2018 from 12- 1 and funeral service is 1:00 p.m. at First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas. Burial will follow in Nix Cemetery.
