Gilma M. Jones

Gilma Jones, 85 of Adamsville, TX went home to be with the Lord on Thursday September 21, 2017. She was born the only child of Grady and Jewell (Rhoades) Flatt on February 12, 1932. She grew up in the Cottonwood community and in Evant. After graduating from Evant High School in 1949, she attended Baylor University School of Nursing, graduating in 1952. She worked in several areas of nursing before retiring as a rehabilitation nurse for Southern pacific Railroad. One evening, while walking near her parents home she met her happiness, Darrell Jones. He asked her for a date and they were married Christmas Eve 1983. Gilma was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church, where she had served on the hostess and floral committees, as church clerk and was a member of Women’s Missionary Union.   Survivors are: devoted husband of 34 years, Darrell Jones Daughters; Anna Coker and husband Chad of Decatur, Amy LaPoe and husband Don of Naperville, IL, DeAnn Holden and husband Lynn of Temple, Kim McDonald and husband Jason of Adamsville. Sons; Bob Jones of Houston, Pete Jones and wife Cindy of Navasota. 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, A.L. McFadden III, daughter-in-law, Rosemary Jones and great-grandson, Mason Van Zandt.   The family will greet friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday September 24, 2017 at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas. Funeral service will be held Monday September 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Adamsville Baptist Church, with Pastor Dale Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Hines Chapel Cemetery. The Jones family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Lampasas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their kind attention and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Adamsville Baptist Church 17084 N. US Hwy 281 Lampasas, TX 76550 or the charity of your choice.
