Geraldine Smith Tongish

Geraldine Smith Tongish, 87, passed away on January 19, 2025, at Lampasas Assisted Living.

Graveside services will be held at Gillum Cemetery in Oakalla on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 2 pm.

Geraldine was born on October 31, 1937, in Oakalla to Marvin and Charity (Queen) Smith.  She grew up and went to school in Oakalla.  She then attended Jackson Business College in Lampasas.  Geraldine was a strong, independent woman who loved her family, friends, neighbors, and gardening. She also adored her dog, Lady.  She spent most of her career working at Darnall Army Medical Center on Ft. Hood before retiring due to illness.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mike Tongish, her son, Pat Tongish, and her brother, A.W. (Shorty) Smith.

Survivors include her brother, Melvin Smith and wife Becky; her granddaughter, Morgan Tongish; her nephews, Craig Smith (Jessica), and Dennis Ray Smith; her niece, Rachel Baumiller and husband Bill; her great-nieces, Riannon, Allison, Hunter, and Reesa and great-nephews, Bo and Riley.
