Georgena Joy Bayer, 91, passed away in Georgetown on March 7, 2024.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 2 pm at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel Lampasas with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will follow at Watson Cemetery in Burnet County.
She was born on May 24, 1932, in Fredericksburg, TX to Martha Roos Schulze and George H. Schulze. She grew up in Austin, TX, and graduated from Austin High School in January 1950. She attended the University of Texas and worked for the Texas Highway Department until her marriage to William T. Bayer, Jr. on September 29, 1951. They were married for 58 and a half years. She raised three sons and lived all over the US and in Ireland. They moved back to Texas in December of 1989. In her earlier days, she did volunteer work in hospitals and nursing homes, was a Cub Scout leader, and helped with the Boy Scouts. She enjoyed photography, tennis, water, and snow skiing. She loved running her ranch and especially her tractor. She had a zest for life and attacked every situation with 110%.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, and her son, William T. Bayer, III., and her sister, Kathleen Schulze Hodges.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Elaine Bayer; her sons, Charles Lee Bayer and wife Vicki and Kenneth Glen Bayer and wife Maria; seven grandchildren, Brittany Tholstrup (husband Sean), Mitchell Bayer (wife Danielle, sons Braesyn and Brady), Kyle Bayer (wife Alli), Eric Bayer (wife Rhiannon), Caitlin Bayer (husband David Walker), Cole Bayer, and Kelsey Bayer.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Bayer, Eric Bayer, Kyle Bayer, Cole Bayer, Sean Tholstrup, and David Walker. Honorary Pallbearers are Brittany Tholstrup, Caitlin Bayer, and Kelsey Bayer.
