Gary Gene Tobias, 83, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021, at his residence in Lampasas. Visitation will be held at Sneed Funeral Chapel from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen at 11 am, followed by a celebration of life for Gary at First United Methodist Church Lampasas at 1:30 pm. Gary was born on February 23, 1938, in Great Bend, KS to Elmer and Viola (Parker) Tobias. He grew up in Great Bend and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1956. After high school, he joined the US Air Force in 1957 and served for 4 years. He was honorably discharged in 1967 at the rank of Airman First Class. After the Air Force, Gary attended college at Kansas State University where he received a B.S. in Industrial Arts Ed. He then went on to attend Kansas State College of Pittsburg where he received an M.S. in Industrial Ed. in May of 1968. After college Gary primarily worked in the electronic fields in multiple capacities, retiring in 2011. Gary married Charlotte Henry in 1957 in Great Bend, KS and they were happily married for 23 years. In 1982, Gary married Sandra Jackson and they were happily married for 38 years. Gary was a proud member of the United Methodist Church for 17 years, where he sang in the choir the entire time. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Viola Tobias; wife, Sandra, and his sister, Shirley Spitzmiller. Survivors include his sisters, Beverly (James) Roberts, Judy Burke, Debbie (Shane) Potter; sons, Bradley Scott Tobias of Wichita, KS, Randall Lee Tobias of Wichita, KS, David Allen Tobias of Bailey, CO; step-children, Joycalyn DePasquale, Andy Porter, Eric Porter; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
