Frieda Ortego

Frieda A. Ortego, age 94, of Copperas Cove, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Scott's Funeral Home in Copperas Cove, Texas.
Frieda was born on July 11, 1923, in Straubing, Germany to the late Anton and Anni Knauer Schweiger. She moved to the United States of America, in 1959, after marrying and starting a family with Walker L. Ortego. She found work as a skilled seamstress at Batson's Upholstery in Copperas Cove. She dedicated her entire life to making sure her children were happy and taken care of. Frieda enjoyed the many times she was able to take her children fishing, sightseeing, and on picnics. She also enjoyed hosting and cooking for most family holiday gatherings at her house.
Frieda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons, Gilbert and Anthony Ortego; daughter, Patricia Brown.
Frieda is survived by a sister, Gertrud Bast; daughters, Renate McDonald, Karen Goforth and husband Benny; son, Clyde Ortego and wife Rocky; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren.
