Frederick Mcminn Iii

Frederick McMinn, III, age 87, of Copperas Cove, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 in Killeen. A Memorial Graveside will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Frederick was born on August 26, 1933 to the late Frederick and Elsie Longenecker McMinn II in Quentin, PA. He graduated from Cornwall High School in 1951. He joined the Air Force at the age of 18 and served 20 years as an airman. Frederick married Lamaid Moonchomgrong on January 1, 1970. They met while he was stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam Conflict. After his military retirement, he worked for Bell Helicopter as a mechanic for a number of years in Vietnam and Iran until 1979. He came back to the states and worked at New Cumberland Army Depot for another 16 years in Pennsylvania. In 2007, he and his wife moved to Texas to be closer to family.  He enjoyed rolling skating when he was younger, going to baseball games, bowling, but golf was his passion.

Frederick was preceded in death by his wife, Lamaid McMinn; and his sister, Erne O’Hara.

Frederick is survived by his step-daughter, Kay White and husband, John; sister, June Steckmen; grandchildren, Ben Foster and wife, Tanya, Elizabeth Foster Roderick and her great-grandchildren, Kiley Roderick, Easton Foster, and Layke Foster.
