Ethel Day

Ethel R. Day, age 78, of Copperas Cove, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021. No services are scheduled at this time.

Ethel was born on August 20, 1943, in Waynesboro, PA to the late Charles and Marie (Guyer) Barlup. She graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1962. Ethel worked for Landis Tool Company in Waynesboro before she met James Earl Day. They married on July 15, 1968, just two months after their first blind date, while he was enlisted in the United States Army. Ethel supported James throughout his 20 plus year career with the Army. They settled in Copperas Cove while he was stationed at his last duty station at Fort Hood. Ethel retired from the Copperas Cove School District after 25 years as a cafeteria cook. Ethel had a passion for cooking and enjoyed cooking for her family. Ethel will be remembered for her strong faith in the Lord. She would read her Bible every day and pray for her loved ones.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her three sisters, Wealthy Monn, Illeana Stevens, and Zona Upperman.

Ethel is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Day Bedburdick, Laura Day O’Fiel; five grandchildren, Taylor Harvey and husband, Derek, Alexander Day and wife, Heather, Dylan Day and fiancé, Samantha Callison, Ashley O’Fiel and fiancé, Kyle Rust, and Zoe Bedburdick; and one great-granddaughter, Paisley Rust.
