Emmer Lee Brooks, age 89, of Lampasas, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 3, 2017. She was born on September 21, 1927 in Gatesville, Texas, to Homer and Minnie Lee Blakley. Emily attended Jackson Business School, where she went on to work as a clerk at the Lampasas County Courthouse. She also worked at Fort Hood for civil service for many years, her family’s dairy business, and was the School Creek Baptist Church treasurer for 30 years. The job she enjoyed the most, however, was working in the greenhouse. Emily had a talent for gardening, sewing, and giving words of encouragement to anyone who needed help. She was a kind-hearted, strong, forgiving, and loving Godly woman who strived to serve the Lord in any and every way she could. Although she had many favorite bible verses, she used one most often: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom,” Ecclesiastes 9:10. Emily is preceded in death by husband Vernon Clifford Brooks, and son Roy Dale Brooks. She is survived by son, Billy Joe Brooks, and his wife, Diane Brooks, of Bridgeport, Texas, daughter, Mary Raub, and her husband, Darryl Raub, of Lampasas, Texas, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Brooks, of Kempner, Texas; six grandchildren, Misty Norwood and her husband, Jeff Norwood, Torjie Wycough and her husband, Justin Wycough, Brandyl Calley and her husband, Brodie Calley, Braedon Raub, Dawson Raub, and Kaeson Raub; and four great-grandchildren; Kade Norwood, Rylan Norwood, Hudson Wycough, Hope Wycough. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on September 8, 2017 also at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Rock Church Cemetery near Rumley, Texas.
