Marjorie "Elaine" Jackson Owens, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished aunt, passed away on July 25, 2024, in Lampasas, Texas, at the age of 82. She was born on March 4, 1942, in Lamesa, Texas, to Raymond and Clara Jackson of Big Spring, Texas. Elaine was married to the love of her life, the late Jackie Wayne Owens, on June 3, 1960, at Westside Baptist Church in Big Spring, Texas. Their enduring love story was a testimony of laughter, togetherness, and patience, inspiring all who knew them.
Elaine is survived by her children, Kenneth Wayne Owens, Carrie Owens Hyatt and husband Glenn, and son-in-law, Michael King all of Lampasas. She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney Paul Owens, and her beloved daughter, Tobi Owens King.
Elaine was a devoted grandmother, lovingly known as Nannie, to Sarah Beth Hall and husband Michael, Bailey Hyatt, Jackie Hyatt, Maci Maldonado and husband Wren, Ritter Jack King, Ridley Owen King, and Melody Kate Owens. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Paisley Denise Wiles, Jordon Maldonado, Ophelia Lane Butler, and Reagan Levi Ervin, who preceded her in death. Elaine was also preceded in death by her sister, Norma Sunday, and her husband, Monroe of Big Spring, TX. Other survivors include her sister, Daphna Smith, and husband Randy of Terrell, TX.
Elaine enjoyed bowling with her mom and sisters, cooking, and loved music, especially Elvis Presley and the gospel music of the Gaithers. Elaine was gifted with the ability to care for children, taking care of her nieces and nephews while young family members were working. She was always selflessly encouraging and loving on everyone unconditionally. She used her time to give back to the ladies of Alpha Beta Omicron Society in Sand Springs, and her gifts and talents turned into hobbies that were just as sweet as she was. She enjoyed baking, making fudge, and other candies, always seeking to bring joy and a small piece of happiness to others. Nothing could ever change the memories and truth of unconditional love, kindness, and devotion that Elaine gave to each and every person she knew and loved.
Psalm 23: 1-6 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the day of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
