Edwin C. Kattner, 82, of Copperas Cove passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Temple. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 West Ave F in Copperas Cove. Burial will follow at the Copperas Cove City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM at Scott's Funeral Home of Copperas Cove.
E. C. was born on January 23, 1932 in Galveston, Texas to the late Edwin and Ester Doerr Kattner. He graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1949. He married Joyce Marie Seale on June 15, 1952. After high school he was drafted into the United States Army and served for 3 years. E.C. worked on Fort Hood as a Civil Services Employee for 30 years. During that time he was deployed during Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia. He was a dedicated volunteer fireman most of his life serving Copperas Cove and the surrounding area for over 40 years. E. C. was chief of the volunteer fire department for many years. He was also the past president of the Central Texas Fireman and Fire Marshals' Association. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, a member of the Mt. Hiram Lodge No. 595 in Copperas Cove, also served with the Karem Shriners and in the Order of the Easter Star Chapter 1070.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joyce of 56 years.
E. C. is survived by his children, Rusty Kattner and wife, Nita, Pat Krempin, Richard Kattner and wife, Jannetta, Penny Black and husband, William; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; adopted family, Linda and Skip Rippy and their children and his beloved cat, Kat.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Copperas Cove.
