Edward Finnell, Jr., 80, passed away on November 26, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born on February 1, 1944, in Lampasas, Texas to Edward and Susie (Hamilton) Finnell.
Funeral services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11 am with a visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
Ed grew up in Lampasas, Texas. He graduated from Lampasas High School in 1962. After high school, he joined the Air Force in 1963 and served for three years. He served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged in 1966, achieving the rank of Airman A2C. He then attended the University of Houston in Houston, Texas where he received a Real Estate Brokers License and was the owner of Finnell Real Estate. He then worked at Sterling McCall Toyota, as a Finance Manager for many years and retired as a Special Finance Manager at Mike Calvert Toyota.
Ed married Mary in 1992 in Houston, Texas. They were happily married for 32 years. He enjoyed sports, bowling, cooking, and fine dining. He also received several Salesman of the Year awards as a Finance Manager at Sterling McCall Toyota.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Susie Finnell, siblings, Janice Burton and Barbara Butler, and his son, Edward Dewayne Finnell.
Ed is survived by his spouse, Mary of Houston, Texas; his children, Veda Lewis of Houston, Kimberly Defreitas (Gerald) of Harker Heights, Texas, Shanna Finnell of Killeen, Texas, Kelvin Finnell of Houston, Texas, Delvin Finnell (Dana) of Killeen, Texas; his stepson, Malcom Frank; his grandchildren, Ashley Blackburn, Keyon Lewis, Katerra (Reginald II) Guidry, Chavon (Devron) Covington-Haddix, Jamel Defreitas, Jenika (Anthony) Andrew, Deandre Finnell, Loghan Finnell, Lauren Finnell; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Kirkendoll, Jevon Kirkendoll, Jaiden Kirkendoll, Penelope Andrew, Reginald Guidry III, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
