Earl E. Putnam, Jr.

December 15, 1929 — September 23, 2020

Earl E. Putnam, Jr., 90, died on September 23, 2020, in Lampasas, Texas.

Earl Eugene Putnam was born in Hondo, Texas to Earl Eugene Putnam, Sr. and Bessie Blanche Sissel Putnam.  Earl attended the University of Texas where he met and married Deanie Burks in 1950, and they had one son.  Earl and Deanie lived in several cities in Texas, finally settling in San Antonio.

Earl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather with many talents, most notable being his great sense of humor.  He was generous to a fault, supporting his loved ones any way he could, and sacrificed his own comfort to provide assistance to others.

Earl began working as a young boy and continued throughout his life, ending his work career at 82 years old.  He was involved with insurance, real estate and owned several small businesses.

Earl was a master gardener, having received the requisite gardening education and performing volunteer work in the gardening community in San Antonio, Texas.  Earl loved to nurture plants and share their beauty.  Pecan Grove in Lampasas, Texas where he enjoyed the last 5 years of his life, benefitted from his special plantings throughout the property.

Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Deanie Putnam; his parents, a sister, and a brother.

Survivors include his son, Steve Putnam and wife, Patricia of California; granddaughter, Amy Covey; great-grandson, Josiah Covey and great-grandaughter, Jadyn Covey.

The Pecan Grove community is establishing a memorial garden for Earl and Deanie at a special site on the property.
