Douglas Lee Smith

Douglas Lee Smith, 57, passed away on October 3, 2022, at St. David's North Austin Medical Center.  Doug was born on July 8, 1965, in Lampasas, Texas to Denzel L. Smith and Peggy Wren Smith.

A memorial service will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel, on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 10 am.

Doug grew up in Lampasas, TX, and graduated from Lampasas High School in 1984.  He began his career as a ranch hand in 1983 working for Lampasas Stud and soon became a foreman.  He later would go on to work for various ranches in Lampasas and Burnet County including the Wagon Wheel.  In 2000, he tried his hand as a logger working in the natural gas industry for 9 years, before returning to ranching and working part-time as a stocker at Walmart.

Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Doug is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Baumann, and husband, Ryan of El Campo, TX; his brother, Denzel D. Smith, and wife, Trisha of Lampasas; sister, Shelly Samaros and husband, Phil of Malta, Illinois; brother, Dwight Smith and wife, Mildred of Lampasas; sister, Marion Lamantia, and husband, Matthew of Georgetown; best friend, Lee Carson; aunts, Marie Maldonado of Colorado, Melva Henson and husband, Darrell of Missouri, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations are made to the American Diabetes Association or Texas Parks and Wildlife.
