Douglas Craig Pendleton, a devoted husband, brother, stepfather, grandfather, and friend, departed this earthly realm on November 20, 2024, at the age of 76, in Temple, Texas. Born on May 3, 1948, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Doug embraced life with an unwavering spirit characterized by patience, kindness, and love.
Throughout his well-lived years, Doug garnered a wealth of experiences that reflected his magnificent heart. He proudly served his country for two decades retiring as a Master sergeant, a commitment that demonstrated his dedication and honor. In addition to his military service, Doug took immense pride in helping veterans and notably found joy in the simple yet profound act of cooking for others. These accomplishments were not mere highlights of his life; rather, they were a testament to the selfless nature that defined him. After serving his country Doug went to work at Killeen Independent School district as a warehouse supervisor for 26 years.
Doug was a man of many interests. He delighted in puzzles, trivia, and crosswords, often finding solace in the pages of a good book. His leisure activities were richly interwoven with family. Such interests revealed the layers of his character—deeply caring and inherently thoughtful, with an insatiable curiosity about the world around him.
He leaves behind a loving wife, Patrice Pendleton, with whom he shared 31 wonderful years of companionship. Their bond and commitment was a beautiful love story. He is survived by a sister and a brother, Renan Willis and John Pendleton; three stepsons, Wallace Jones III and wife Amanda, Brandon Jones, Michael Jones and wife Jennifer. The legacy of Doug will undoubtedly resonate in the laughter and joy of his nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, who were incredibly fortunate to have known such a loving Papa. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Patricia Pendleton, and a niece and two nephews.
In his passing, Doug joins those who have gone before him, including his mother, Minnie Hill Pendleton, his father, Dudley Pendleton, a brother, James Pendleton, mother in law Helen Nitzband and father in law Rodney Nitzband.
