Doug Faught

June 1, 1940 — March 24, 2025

Lampasas

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Douglas Faught, who left us on March 24, 2025, at 84 years old.  Doug was born June 1, 1940, in Nix, Texas, to Floyd and Ethel Faught.

During his childhood, Doug enjoyed fishing and playing ball with his siblings.  He started working at Storm's in Lampasas in 1956, at 16 years old, and he graduated from Lampasas High School in 1958.  Doug moved to Austin shortly after high school graduation, where he worked at Austin Brake and Clutch.  He then married the love of his life, Narelene Winters, in 1970.  In 1972, Doug and Narelene moved back home to Nix, and then in March of 1978, they welcomed unexpected twin boys, Cody and Cristen.  Throughout the boys' childhood, Doug enjoyed entertaining friends and family, hosting numerous graduation, birthday, anniversary, and holiday parties.  Doug's favorite hobbies were meticulously taking care of his beautiful yard and hosting the annual Lip Smackin' Butt Chapin' Cookoff and Runnies.

In 2000, Doug began working at Country Corner in Burnet, Texas, where he entertained thousands of people every day with his witty jokes and stories.  He retired in 2010 from Country Corner and became a full-time Big Daddy to his grandchildren and a part-time fisherman.

Doug is survived by his sons, Cody (Molly) Faught and Cristen (Alicia) Faught; his grandchildren, Kenneth (Kimberly) Faught, Tyler (Destiney) Faught, Rebecca Faught, Sydney Lesley, Myra (Albert) Hernandez and Logan (Willow) Faught; great-grandchildren, Kooper, Kayce, Dawson, Jensyn, Avani, Carlisle, Ivory, Harper and a baby Faught on the way; his brother, Robert (Jan) Faught; his sisters, June Burns, Ladell Faught and Jenell (Jerry) Porter, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Narelene, and his brothers, Ray, Wayne, and Joe.

Doug's last couple of months were highlighted by being entertained by his young great-grandchildren.  Cody, Cristen, and their families would like to extend a very special thank you to Tessa Johnston for taking loving care of Doug prior to his passing.
