Doris Wayne Denham White

June 23, 1932 — August 7, 2020

Doris Wayne Denham White, 88, passed away on the Friday, August 7, 2020 at Country Oaks Assisted Living Facility in Burnet, Texas. Celebration of Life: 9:30 a.m. Monday at Sneed Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet. Visitation: The family will greet friends and relatives from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Doris was born on June 23, 1932, in Laurel, Mississippi to Hardy R. and Irene Gross Denham. She grew up in the South of the United States and graduated from Pensacola High School, in Pensacola, Florida, in 1950. After high school she attended college at Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi where she received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a minor in Sociology in 1953. At a young age Doris was left as a single parent to raise her children. She worked 32 years for various companies as a bookkeeper and payroll supervisor, retiring in 2004. Doris was a member of Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, Texas for 47 years (1966-2013) and was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas, from 2016 until her passing. She enjoyed homemaking, sewing, cooking, taking family pictures, putting together photo albums, teaching children's choir and keeping her two sons from fighting and getting into mischief. She also found great joy in her prison ministry in Harris and Washington Counties. She also witnessed to unwed mothers who were contemplating abortion at New Beginnings in Brenham, Texas. Doris was preceded in death by her son, Tate (1979); father, Hardy R. (1987); mother, Irene (1998); sister, Mary Kay (2000); brother-in-law, James Mangum (2016); brother, Hardy, Jr; sister-in-law, Margaret Ann, (2017) and husband, Charles White (2017). Survivors: Daughter, Denise Flanagan of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; son, Johnny Langston and wife, Pamela J., of Burnet, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher of Fairfax, Virginia, Lesley J. and her husband, Corey Reel of Cypress, Texas and their daughter-to-be, Samantha Grace and numerous other nieces, nephews and loving family members. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Doris' name.
