Dawn Rizzo-Holley

Dawn Yvonne Rizzo-Holley passed away on June 18, 2021, surrounded by her family and loved ones. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Viss Family Funeral Home. 1614 S FM 116, Copperas Cove, Texas, 76522.

Dawn was born on December 30, 1971, to Rowell Pershing Leggett II and Sharon Godwin Leggett at Hillindell Hospital in Killeen, Texas. Dawn lived in the Harker Heights and Killeen area for most of her life. She was known to countless children as MaeMae, Aunt Dawn, and even Mama Dawn for nearly three decades.

She worked a myriad of jobs over the years such as a prison guard, substitute teacher, CNA, and more, but her primary passion was devoted to her friends and family. Especially babies and pregnant women, whom she was renowned for aiding whenever possible.

She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a caring daughter, an amazing friend, a wonderful wife, a beautiful woman, and a genuinely good person.

She is preceded in death by her father, Rowell Pershing Leggett II, and her brother, Shelby Fred Leggett II "Shorty."

Dawn is survived by her daughters, Ashley, Samantha, and Heather; granddaughters, Amilia and Beth; sisters, Chaniel and Rena Leggett; her mother, Sharon Leggett; her husband, Justin Holley; and a vast number of close friends and 'adopted family.'

She will be mourned and missed more than any queen ever could have been.

We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
