Daniel Arnette, age 50, of Killeen passed away in San Antonito, TX after a four year battle with leukemia. Funeral Services will be at 9:00 AM on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Scott’s Funeral Home of Copperas Cove with burial with full Military Honors following at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Daniel was born on March 2, 1966 in Pompano Beach, Florida to the late Neil and Virginia Wells Arnette. He graduated from Blanche Ely High School in 1984. His high school passion was track and field. He later joined the United States Army on May 14, 1992. He retired from the United States Army after 22 years of service as a Sergeant First Class on October 22, 2014. Daniel married Maya Lynn Edwards on August 5, 2012. Daniel truly enjoyed his time in the Army, especially as a recruiter. In his spare time, he enjoyed swimming, wheel chair basketball, golf, and watching sports with Duane Wilkerson. He was an extreme people lover. There has not been a person that Daniel didn't touch in one way or another throughout his life. He loved his children dearly. Daniel placed all his care into God's hands and never worried.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leon Bentley, Sr., Gary Arnette, and Bruce Arnette.
Daniel is survived by his beloved wife, Maya Lynn Arnette and her children, Tiffany R. Thompson and Devonte R. Franklin; daughter, Tiffany D. Smith and husband, Labarron and their daughter, Daniel's only granddaughter, Morgan J. Smith; daughters, Alexis H. Arnette, and Kiara J. Arnette; son, Daniel M. Arnette and their mother, Clara M. Arnette; siblings, Ernestine Santiago, Chris Ferguson, Arnetha Banks West, Ida A. Sneed and husband, Willie, William Banks and wife, Janice. Daniel was loved by a host of nieces and nephews who looked up to him as a father.
The family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to the Bone Marrow Transplant staff, the ICU staff at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX; his Nurse Stephanie, Dr. Oswald, Pastor Marvin Wells, and to Tiffany R. Thompson.
