David Lloyd Thomas, 66, of Copperas Cove, Texas passed away peacefully October 30th with his family at his side. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, November 6, 2017 at Scott’s Funeral Home of Copperas Cove with burial following at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 3-5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born in Dallas, Texas November 19, 1950 to Richard and Fern Thomas.  While Lloyd was serving in the US Army in Germany, he met and fell in love with Betty who was serving as a missionary. He married Elizabeth (Betty) Welliver of Adrian, Missouri in Germany on July 21st at the courthouse and at the church the next day and they were married 45 years.

He was a man of many names (Grandpa, Papa, PopPop, Dear, Honey, Daddy, Dad, David, Lloyd, D. Lloyd, Chaplain, Major) and many letters (MDiv, MA, MS, nearly DDiv, LCSW, LCDC, LPC, LMFT, KFIL).  Although he was proud of his academic, military, professional, and ecumenical accomplishments, he was most proud of the family’s devotion to following God.  He is survived by his wife, Betty, his children, Valerie and husband Rick, Matthew and wife Stephanie, Solomon and wife Anna, Paul and wife Kelly, and Martina and thirteen grandchildren who all praise God for His involvement throughout our lives.  Many times Lloyd bragged to anyone who would listen about the spiritual legacy God bestowed upon him.

He enjoyed traveling, cruising, going to grandkids’ games, veterans’ activities, bible college reunions, Branson, and working with animals (mustangs, chickens, rabbits, and dogs).
