Cora Lea Cortez, 69, of Copperas Cove passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Killeen. Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Fairview Community Church, 1202 Veterans Ave in Copperas Cove.
Cora Lea was born on July 30, 1944 to the late Marshall and Lola Edwards Peterson in Menomonie, WI. She attended school in Menomonie, graduating in 1962. She joined the United States Army and served for 5 years separating from the service as a Specialist Five. Cora Lea married Pedro Cortez on December 27, 1968 in St. Paul, MN. She then began her lifelong career of supporting her husband and raising her 3 children. Cora Lea became a Christian in Menomonie as a child and more recent years became valued member of the Fairview Community Church in Copperas Cove.
Cora Lea is survived by her husband, Pedro Cortez; children, Cynthia Kidner and husband, Herbert, Stephanie Cortez, Pedro M. Cortez; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; grandchildren, Michael Bock, Timothy Cortez, Lindsey Kidner and one great granddaughter, Aurora Bock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fairview Community Church, P.O. Box 220, Copperas Cove, TX 76522.
