Connie McMurry Simmons

Connie McMurry Simmons, 81 of Lampasas, Texas passed away on November 16, 2018 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Connie was born April 11, 1937 in Waxahachie, Texas the daughter of Verene Marvin McMurry Sr. and Birdie Ruth (Peeples) McMurry. Connie was a true Texan, growing up in the Austin area and graduating from Round Rock High School, where she was voted senior class favorite and served as senior class secretary. Connie worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Kruger Jewelers, Louis Shanks in Austin and later in Lampasas at Walmart as a pharmacy technician and cashier. Connie was a loving mother, grandmother and wife who took great pride in her ability to make houseplants   flourish. Connie loved animals of all kinds, cats were her favorite companion. Connie had a very compassionate heart and deep love for the word of God. She was married to Rex A. Simmons and had been a resident of Lampasas since 1996. She is survived by her husband Rex A. Simmons Three daughters; Donna Pearson Liles (Ron) of Round Rock Pam Neans of Round Rock Glenda Neans-Speck (Trey) of Round Rock Sister, Barbara Graves of Tennessee Brothers; Miley Akers (Sandra) of Bastrop Monte Akers (Mary) of Dripping Springs Granddaughter, Lindsey Pearson of San Antonio   She was preceded in death by her parents, by two brothers, Sonny McMurry and Mike Akers.   Visitation will be Friday, November 23, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas, Texas.               Funeral service will be Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas, Texas.         Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Killeen, Texas In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lampasas Animal Shelter.
