Chris Sheehan

Christopher Frederick Sheehan, 52, passed away on September 29, 2024, at Advent Health Hospital in Killeen, TX.  He was born on April 26, 1972 in Ottawa, IL.

Services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Third St., Lampasas, TX, on Monday, October 14, 2024, at 2 pm with a visitation an hour prior. 

Chris grew up in Ottawa, IL.  He graduated from Ottawa High School in Ottawa in 1990 where he was a member of the soccer and swim teams.  After high school, he joined the Army in June 1990 and served for 20 years.  He served our country with three tours to South Korea and several duty stations in the states.  He also served during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and The Global War on Terror.  He was discharged in July 2010 achieving the rank of E6 Staff Sergeant.  He began work for Supreme Food Service in Afghanistan as a Human Resource Manager where he worked for 2 years.  He returned to the US to work for Helmerich & Payne Oil Company in Odessa, TX.  He was currently working for the TX Dept of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) at the Hughes Unit in Gatesville, TX.

Chris married Sonya (Degree) in April 1995 in Tacoma, WA.  They were happily married for 29 years.  Chris enjoyed riding his motorcycle, planning BBQs and sitting on the patio visiting with friends.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, John F. Sheehan, and his brother, John E. Sheehan.

Chris is survived by his spouse, Sonya Sheehan of Kempner; his daughter, Thalia of Kempner; his mother, Maria (Navarro) Sheehan of Grand Marais, MN; his brothers, James Preston of North Carolina, Nicholas Sheehan (Izabela) of Grand Marais, MN; his mother-in-law, Della (Cherry) Degree of Shelby, NC; his aunts, Lore Kennedy of Indiana, Karen Super, Patty (Gerry) Kammerer, Delores Hanley and Carmen Kirgan, of Ottawa, IL and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
