Chong Shank

Chong Sun Shank, age 76, of Copperas Cove, was called home to heaven to be with her firstborn and only son, Charles, on Friday, September 3, 2021, in Temple. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Viss Family Funeral Home, 1614 S. FM 116, Copperas Cove, TX. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Private burial will follow at the Copperas Cove City Cemetery.

Chong was preceded in death by her parents; son, Charles Shank; and son-in-law, Frank Campbell.

Chong is survived by her children Cynthia Erickson (husband Brant), Geraldine Campbell, Dr. Christy Shank, and Michelle Shank; grandchildren Crystal Erickson Owens (husband Jonathan) Elizabeth Amber Greenfield, David and Justin Campbell; and great-grandchildren Chace Greenfield, Jubilee, and Gideon Owens, and Zareyah Harris.

Chong was born in South Korea on January 2, 1945, into the Kim Family. She grew up in South Korea and attended school in Seoul, South Korea. The US Army moved her and her family back and forth from the States to Korea. She settled in Texas in the late 1970s. She loved gardening, cooking, ballroom dancing, traveling, listening to country-western music, but most of all she loved spending time with her family because nothing was more important to her than her family. Chong loved helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her passion in life was to help and care for others to the point where she became a second mom to all her children’s friends. Chong’s smile and laughter could light up any room, and she was extremely dramatic in the funniest ways. Her legacy and love will always live on through her family.
