Charlotte Ann Powell, 80, passed away on December 28, 2022, in Austin, Texas. She was born December 4, 1942, in Lampasas to Lewis Randle Spivey and Annie Mearl Spivey (nee Faught).
Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 30, 2022, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Services will be held at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 2 pm with interment to follow at Watson Cemetery in Burnet County.
She grew up in Lometa, Texas, and later near Briggs, Texas, where she played high school basketball. After graduating from Briggs High School, she married Landis Powell. She spent her time as a housewife and seamstress. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting to which she had a keen eye for detail. Even after getting dementia, she was still crocheting.
She married Landis Powell on October 1, 1961, in New Hope Primitive Baptist Church near Lampasas. To this union, they had three children and made their home in Austin.
She was a member of Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bea and Verna Powell; brother, Glen Spivey; sister, Linda Crawford; nephew, Jeff Spivey; and great-nephew, Casey Crawford.
She is survived by two sons, Gaylon Powell (Kristie) and Kevin Powell (Olivia) of Jarrell; daughter, Tammy Powell of Austin; grandson, Garrett Powell of Jarrell; brother-in-law, Glynn Powell (Dorothy) of Copperas Cove; brother-in-law, Bruce Crawford of Lampasas; two nephews, Blake Powell (Maggie) of Austin, and Randy Crawford (Dee Ann) of Lampasas; three nieces, Karen Harrison (Ray) of Copperas Cove, Misty Smith (Hollis), and Ashley Reza (John) both of Lampasas, and several great nephews and great nieces.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to either the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Ashley Reza, 7 Ramsey, Lampasas, TX, 76550, or Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church, 915 E. 52nd St., Austin, TX, 78752.
