Charles Ray Bailey, 87, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at his home in Llano, Texas.  He was born on December 3, 1936, in Lometa, Texas to Elmer Bailey and Josephine (Weaver) Bailey.

Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel Lampasas on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm.  Services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10 am.  Burial will follow at Warner Cemetery in Lake Victor.

Charles grew up in Lampasas.  He was a hard-working man who loved his family.  Charlie worked many jobs as an electrician and hard labor.  He was especially proud of his time working for Brown and Root in Houston working on the ship H.A. Lindsay.  He began work for Brown and Root as a Crane Operator and worked for 20 years until he was injured and could no longer work.

Charles married Vinnia Lee Gatliff on November 14, 1955, in Comanche, Texas.  They were happily married for 68 years.  Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Josephine Bailey; his brothers, Elmer Irvin Bailey, Marshall Andrew Bailey, and Leo Bailey; his sisters, Eunice Cox and Irene Chambers and his son, Nathaniel Mose Bailey (Tootie).

Charles was an avid fisherman and enjoyed any body of water he could get to.  The family enjoyed many fishing trips together making memories and telling stories.  His grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to him and they loved him dearly.  He loved cars, trucks, and motorcycles and when he was younger he was always working on them.  Charles was a mountain of a man and never backed down from a fight if he needed to defend the people he loved.

Charles is survived by his spouse, Vinnia of Llano, Texas; his sister, Mary Johnson of Lake Whitney, Texas; his sons, Jimmy Ray Bailey and wife Marcell of Victoria, Texas, and Charlie Dewayne Bailey of Gainesville, Missouri; his grandchildren, Bryan Lee Bailey and wife Katy, Matthew Ray Bailey, both of Victoria, Texas, James Ray Bailey and wife Paige of Burnet, Texas, Brett Wayne Bailey and wife Candice of Bertram, Texas, Cassie Lee Ann Crow and husband Paden of Bertram, Texas, Lauren Rose Althouse and husband Austin; his great-grandchildren, Bryce Nathaniel Bailey, Hunter Lee Bailey, Tyler Brayden Bailey, Royce Gillespie, Riley Cash Bailey, Remington Blaze Bailey, Reed Asher Bailey, Ryan Rex Bailey, Conner Ellis Crow, Lane David Crow and Hayes Andrew Althouse.
