Carolyn Jean Fisk Haynie, 85, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital in Round Rock, TX. She was born on November 18, 1938, in McGregor, TX to Wilburn and V.O. Reynolds Fisk.
Funeral services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Third St., Lampasas, TX, on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11 am with visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas, TX.
Carolyn grew up in McGregor, TX. She attended McGregor High School and was active in the cheerleading squad and as a class officer. Carolyn met her true love and married Walter Y. Haynie, August 10, 1956, before she began her senior year in high school, and went on to graduate with her class in 1957. They were happily married for 66 years and welcomed their first child, Walter Barry in 1958, then Cara Lee in 1959, Carla Lynn in 1961 and Michael Bryan in 1968.
After high school, Carolyn attended cosmetology school and worked as a hairstylist in Lampasas, TX. She later began a career as a paraprofessional for 25 years, working at Lampasas ISD, Flour Bluff ISD in Corpus Christi and finishing her career at Hays CISD in Kyle, TX, where she retired. Carolyn was a Christian by faith and a member of the First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas, TX, Windsor Park Church of Christ in Corpus Christi, TX and Georgetown Church of Christ in Georgetown, TX.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and V.O. Fisk, her husband, Walter Y. Haynie and her daughter, Carla Haynie Shaffer.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Barry (Lisa) Haynie of Cibolo, TX; daughter, Cara Haynie-Pena of Corpus Christi, TX; her son, Bryan (Vickie) Haynie of Agua Dulce, TX; her grandchildren, Roman (Keisha) Brown, Jennifer (Gabriel) Dunford, Reilly Shaffer, Taylor (Jacob) Evans, Alex Pena, Sarah Haynie and Jordan Haynie; great-grandchildren, Michael Brown, Isabella Brown, Annabelle Dunford, Bennett Dunford, Amelia Dunford, and Rhys Dunford; her brother, Douglas (Sally) Fisk of Graham, TX; her nephews, Brad Fisk, David Fisk; niece, Staci Fisk and her great-nephew, John Upton.
Carolyn will be greatly missed by her family. She was a caring, gentle, loving wife and mother with a warm sense of humor. She adored all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved when they came to visit.
