Carolyn June Badger Dean, 96, of Lometa passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Graveside Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Center Cemetery in Lometa. Carolyn was born to Bonner and Maggie Badger on January 10, 1924, at the Badger home place on Sims Creek. Carolyn grew up in Lometa, TX, and graduated from Lometa High School. She married Troy "Bunt" Dean on January 9, 1943, and they settled in Lometa. On October 17, 1943, Michael Troy "Mike" was born to this couple. Carolyn worked at Murphy's Store for approximately 30 years and after Bunt's death in 1981, she worked 5 years as a secretary for the City of Lometa. Carolyn was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Lometa. She was a very independent person; she mowed her own yard (one acre), walked two miles a day, and still drove to Lampasas to buy groceries every Friday until she broke her hip over 2 years ago. Carolyn was affectionately called "Mimi" by her family and half of Lampasas County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bonner and Maggie Badger; husband, Bunt Dean; son, Mike Dean; sisters, Cora Bell Ferguson, Wanda Whitley, Lorene Underwood, Merle Davis, Laverne Maxwell and granddaughter, Kim (Dean) Stockman. Survivors include one sister, Jean Chapman of Austin, TX; daughter-in-law, Nancy Dean of Lampasas; three grandchildren, Chris Dean of Lampasas, Joely Palmer of Lampasas, Ricky (Carol) Dean of Brenham, TX; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley Stockman, Brayden Dean, Makenzie Dean, Nicholas (Torie) Palmer, Jaci Palmer, Kendall Dean, Karleigh Dean; great-great-grandchild, Hazel Kate Palmer and many nieces and nephews.
