Carletta Denise Smith was born on June 3, 1975, in Los Angeles California to Billy Norman Smith, who precedes her in death, and Ivy Georgia Smith. On Monday, June 19, 2023, Carletta gained her wings and reunited with her father in heaven. She was just 48 years old. In 1983, the family moved to Ontario California where Carletta would remain until adulthood. She attended Ontario High School where she was a record-holding track athlete. Carletta remains in the OHS Hall of Fame for the 100m and 200m school records. Carletta moved her family to Texas in 2015 for a better opportunity in life.
Carletta was known by many names but no matter how successful she was, she always said her favorite name was Mom. She was a proud mother of three handsome boys; Kevin Chandler Jr. (28), Kelvin Smith( 18), and Kelin Smith ( 14). In addition to being a mother, Carletta was also a Black Women Matter Activist. As the Owner/Founder of ProtectBlackWomenandGirlsus (Previously Blackfemicideusa), she dedicated her life to spreading awareness about black femicide in the US. Additionally, she participated in and led many rallies to bring awareness to the civil rights violation of black people at large. Her mottoes were Hella Black, Hello Proud, Black Women Matter, Believe Black Women, and Protect Black Girls. Being a single mother of three boys, this movement was close to her heart to ensure her boys were not contributing to this problem in our community. In addition to her We Matter Movements, Carletta was a Podcast Journalist that hosted a show called Black History Every Day. This Podcasts's main focal point was to showcase that black history is not just in the month of February but 365 days a year. The world is progressive due to black accomplishments, inventions, ideas, and entrepreneurship
Carletta is survived by her three sons, Mother Joyce, God family Reginald & Lakyna Perry, and boyfriend Jerome Kemper Jr. While her family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember in a way that honors her spirit; she has one brother that precedes her in death and leaves behind four living siblings, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends, and colleagues.
