Caety Edwards

December 28, 1979 — December 15, 2019

Catherine Lea “Caety” Edwards was born December 28, 1979 in Lampasas, Texas. She started her journey to heaven after a motor vehicle collision on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. She held on long enough to give the gift of life to four other families through becoming an organ donor. Her heart, liver and kidneys are living on in others. She was beautiful, funny, witty, and opiniated. She had a big heart that always wanted to help everyone. Friends said she was the least prejudiced and judgmental person they had ever met. Caety was a Badger long before she started school and would correct anyone calling the school color royal blue by stating it’s Badger Blue. She was a member of LTP spirit club and graduated from Lampasas High School in 1998. Caety attended Howard Payne University for a semester and then transferred to Tarleton State University to finish her degree in education. Like a lot of her classmates, she also took courses at Central Texas College during the summer. After graduation she began her teaching career at New Deal Middle School where she was also the cheerleading program sponsor. She may not have been the one to teach them to jump, but she definitely taught them how to dress and act. After moving back home she continued to teach for Killeen ISD and then on Fort Hood. After exiting public education she started working on her master’s degree in counseling to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. In 2017 she graduated from Texas State University, had passed all state and national tests and was completing the remaining hours of her supervised training. She was proud to promote Edwards Family Cattle and was a past officer of Colorado River CattleWomen and chaired their Mooon-light Madness Golf Tournament scholarship fundraiser. Caety was still a big fan of Badger football and could often be seen in the stands dressed in her favorite blue. During the football offseason, Caety loved to attend Texas country music concerts. She and her friends would road trip all throughout Texas to see all their favorite artists. Although Caety left the teaching profession, her love for children continued to grow throughout the years. She was a beloved aunt, stepmother, second mother and friend to all children she met. Caety was preceded in death by her grandparents, John Gail and Alta Mae (Cox) Edwards and George W. and Polly (McBeth) Hewitt. She is survived by her parents, Mickey and Jani (Hewitt) Edwards, her brother, Reagan Edwards, two nephews, Jay Edwards and Brennan Edwards and numerous cousins, friends and family members. The Caety Edwards Memorial Scholarship has been set up at First Texas Bank of Lampasas.  Funeral services were Tuesday December 17, 2019 at First Baptist Church in Lampasas.
