LT COL. RETIRED BYRON MARCEL BONHAM WAS BORN MARCH 21, 1918 IN BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS TO BYRON BONHAM SR. AND MARY L. SOTTOVMY BONHAM. BYRON DIED SUNDAY JANUARY 15, 2012 AT FORT HOOD, TEXAS AT THE AGE OF 93. BYRON SERVED WITH THE US ARMY AND SERVED IN KOREA AND VIETNAM. HIS AWARDS INCLUDE THE PURPLE HEART, COMBAT INFANTRYMAN BADGE, KOREAN SERVICE MEDAL, UNITED NATIONS SERVICE MEDAL, NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, ROK PRES UNIT CITATION, PRES UNIT (NAVY), ARMED FORCES RESERVE MEDAL, ARMY COMMENDATION MEDAL W/1OLC, ARMED FORCES EXPEDITIONARY MEDAL. HE ATTENDED THE USA INFANTRY SCHOOL AT FORT BENNING, GEORGIA AND THE USA LANGUAGE SCHOOL PRESIDO OF MONTEREY CALIFORNIA AND ADVANCED COURSE IN VIETNAMESE. HE RETIRED AFTER 26 YEARS OF SERVICE. HE MARRIED THAWAI SOMBOON MARCH 15, 1997 IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE THAWAI BONHAM, DAUGHTER ROXANNE ENSMINGER, SON BYRON BONHAM III, SISTER BETTY HAMRICK, BROTHER VAUGHN BONHAM, STEP DAUGHTERS ILILY A. RIVERA, NITTAYA MCMANNIS, JITRA KANJANAVILAI, STEPSONS JOHN T. BELEFORD III, CHAVALIT NIMNUANRAT, GRANDSON SCOTT ENSMINGER, STEP GRANDCHILDREN JOHN T. BELEFORD IV, QUEEN REMBERT, ZAVIER REMBERT, TASIA REMBERT, GIOVANNI REMBERT. SERVICES WILL BE HELD 12 NOON THURSDAY JANUARY 19 AT SHEPPARD FUNERAL HOME. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT CENTRAL TEXAS STATE VETERANS CEMETERY WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS.
