Bobby Joe Smith, 80, of Lampasas, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, in Temple, TX. Services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 2 pm with a visitation an hour prior. Bobby Joe was born on January 7, 1942, in Palestine, TX to T.A. and Kay Smith. He was a true cowboy who loved team roping, riding, and his horses. In 1998 he was the champion header in the Carl Freeman Memorial. He served his country in the US Army and retired after many years of service. He spent his career after the military as a truck driver, he worked construction on Ft. Hood and he was self-employed for a time as a dump truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Bobby Jack Smith. Survivors include his wife, Judy Smith; daughters, Lacye Slagle and husband Wade, Lisa Polidoro, Sherry Vann and husband Kim; sister, Carolyn Jeffus and husband Bob; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
