Barbara Seville Dobbs, 90, passed away quietly after a brief illness on November 27, 2017. She was 90 years old, and had lived in Lampasas for 38 years. Barbara was born in Rock Island, Illinois to parents Marjorie(Marks) and Morris McLaughlin, and was a graduate of Moline Senior High School. She got her nursing degree from Moline Public Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a nurse at the hospital for several years. Barbara had four children: Terry Monty (New York), F. Gary Dobbs (deceased), Barbara S. Dobbs (Lampasas) and Duane(Dewey) Dobbs(Lampasas). She was a devoted Grandmother to her four grandchildren Jeffrey Monty, Beth Dobbs, Courtney Dobbs, and Kathy Dobbs. She also had 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Judy Moens, several nieces and nephews, son-in-law Mark Monty, and daughter-in-law Michelle France Dobbs. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Barney T. Dobbs, her son Gary, her sister Phyllis Moyes, and her parents. Before moving to Lampasas, Barbara and Barney resided in Germany for several years where they traveled extensively and welcomed many guests from home. They also enjoyed traveling in the United States. Mrs. Dobbs was an avid reader throughout her life, and passed on a love of books to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, musicals, walking, and bird watching. Barbara was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Lampasas, and a member of the Dorcas class there. She was the church librarian for many years. Her church community and friends were very important to her. Barbara was a soft-spoken woman with a generous spirit and a big heart. She will be greatly missed.
