Anthony (Tony) Staats

Anthony (Tony) Staats, age 39 of Round Rock, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, December 30, 2014.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 5, 2015 at St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church, 1000 E. FM 2410, Harker Heights, TX 76548.  A Rosary will be recited Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. followed by visitation until 5 P.M. at Scott's Funeral Home of Copperas Cove, 1614 S. FM 116, Copperas Cove.

Tony was born on November 3, 1975 in Ft. McClellan, Alabama to William and Duong (Marie) Staats.  He spent most of his young life in Killeen, Texas, attending Sugar Loaf Elementary School and Nolan Middle School.  He graduated from Ellison High School in 1993.  While at Ellison, he played football and was the editor of the school newspaper.  After his high school graduation, he attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and graduated in 1998 with a business degree.  He began his career at Coca-Cola, before accepting a position at Hoover's Online in Austin.  In 2004, he married Erin Magusiak and they had a son, Anthony Alan Staats.  Anthony, (Deuce) as his daddy called him, was the light of Tony's life.  They enjoyed watching movies, building legos and playing Mario Cart.  He loved watching and playing sports with Deuce as well as coaching his little league baseball team the last few years.  Tony will forever be a New York Yankee fan.  He was a member of St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church in Harker Heights.

He is survived by his son, Anthony Staats of Round Rock; parents, William (Bill) and Marie Staats of Killeen; his former wife, Erin Staats of Round Rock; sister, Sabrina Foster and her companion Denver Tippit of Gatesville; two brothers, Loc (Jason) Nguyen and wife Huong of Killeen, Phuc (Sam) Nguyen and wife Charlotte of Killeen; grandparents, Marie Staats of New York, Duong Phuoc Xoi and Nguyen Thi Qui of Vietnam and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the New Hope Cambodian Children's Fund, c/o St. Paul Chong Hasang Catholic Church, P.O. Box 2414, Harker Heights, TX 76548.
