Ann Moore Johnson

September 4, 1937 — February 27, 2025

Lampasas

Ann Moore Johnson passed away on February 27, 2025, at her home in Lampasas, surrounded by loved ones.  She was born on September 4, 1937, to W.T. and Cora Moore.

Ann lived a rich and blessed life.  She grew up on the family ranch and learned the value of hard work, humility, and resilience.  She enjoyed the wide open spaces with her two sisters as playmates.  During that time, she developed a true passion for ranching.

Ann had a personality that lit up the room and a smile that warmed the heart.  Living out in the country never slowed her down as she was involved in every aspect of high school.  She was loved by everybody, which is evident in the fact that she was voted class favorite three of the four years of high school.  She was runner-up her fourth year.

Ann married Dick Johnson, her high school sweetheart, and they were married 64 years.  They first lived in the Mt. Pleasant area, and their first son was born there.  They then moved to Eastland, TX, where the other two sons were born. The boys were taught by example, and they shared a home full of joy and laughter.  In Eastland, she worked for Eastland National Bank until her retirement after 32 years.  After retirement, she and Dick moved back to Lampasas and ranching.  Ann loved her cattle, and many of them had names.  She cared for them up until a few months ago.  She was passionate about the land and its preservation.  She spent many a day sitting in her skid steer, taking out her personal vendetta on cedar and mesquite trees.

When Ann was not ranching, she spent time with friends, of which there were many.  She made friends everywhere she went.  To know her was to love her!  Her social network was nothing short of amazing.  She was involved in The Red Hats, The 36 Club, The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and The Presbyterian Women's Group.  She also enjoyed lunches with the Cousin's Group.

Ann grew up in Lampasas Presbyterian Church.  She faithfully served the Lord in many capacities, including serving as a Deacon.  She was very creative, and the wreaths on the church doors were her creation.  They were changed with the seasons and always beautiful.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Dick and her oldest son, Lee and wife Lori.  She is survived by her son, Kevin, and wife Felicia, who live in Hillsboro, and her son, Dave and wife Shayne who live in Austin.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Evan, Connor, Katherine and husband Matt Roberts, and Brian and wife Vicky and their daughters, Anna Belle and Ruby Lee; her sisters, Jane Gamel of Austin and Doris and husband Jim Faubion of Marble Falls; her sister-in-law, Sue and husband Donald Bousquet of Belton and many nieces, nephews and cousins that loved her dearly as well as her very dear friend Robert Edwards and his extended family.

The family acknowledges their love and appreciation of her caregivers.  The nurses at Austin Heart, her in-home caregiver, Diamond, and her in-home nurse, Jenna.  They were all amazing, loving people and helped make her transition go as smoothly as possible.

Services will be held at Lampasas First Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 15.
