Alton Lloyd Harrison

February 24, 1949 — July 18, 2023

Alton Lloyd Harrison, 74, of Lampasas, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 10 am.

Alton was born on February 24, 1949, in Lampasas to Kyle and Melba Harrison.  He grew up in Lampasas and graduated from Lampasas High School.  Alton worked as a well driller for the family business, then worked and retired from the State of Texas.  He was a member of the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department and a Master Mason of Saratoga No. 546.

Known as "Ton", he was a mountain of a man with a heart to match.  He enjoyed hunting, as well as collecting coins and zippos.  He especially enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.  He was a devout patron of the coffee shop, and over the last few years enjoyed the morning crowd that gathered under his carport.  A special thanks to Joe "JN" Williams, Jerry Harrison, Kenny Null, Patrick Love, and many others.  He always looked forward to the morning crew.

Alton was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary Don; his wife, Jean; his daughter, Ramona, and her husband Gary Hall.

Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Glenn (Sandy), Jerry (Edith), David and Richard (Linda); daughter, Darla Taylor (Ray) and sons, Jim and Chris (Hannah).  He loved his role as Grampy to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and uncle to his nieces and nephews.
