Alice Elizabeth Langford Rush, 89, passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021, at her home in Lometa, TX
Graveside services will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 27, 2021, at School Creek Cemetery.
Alice was born on March 27, 1932, in Lampasas County, Texas to John Bert Langford and Ruth Nuckles Langford. Alice grew up in the Unity Community, Texas. She graduated from Lampasas High School in 1948. She was a baton twirler for the Lampasas Badgers, Football Sweetheart, LHS Student Body Favorite, and a member of the LTP Spirit Club.
After high school, she attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, where she received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. While at TCU she was bestowed the honor of Miss TCU in 1950 and was an active twirler for the Horn Frogs Football Team. Alice was a housewife raising two sons in Irving, Texas, a teacher, and a real estate agent. Alice was also a charter member of the Lampasas Daughters of the American Revolutionary War and Daughters of the Republic of Texas, a member of the Thursday Luncheon Club, and an active member of the School Creek Baptist Church congregation.
Alice Elizabeth Langford married William Thomas Rush in 1952 in Lampasas, Texas. They were happily married for 41 years. She enjoyed researching her family's genealogy records, riding horses, and entertaining guests, family, and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Rush; her son, William Robert Rush; her parents, John Bert and Ruth Langford; siblings, Jean Marie Langford, John Bert Langford, and Joseph Henry Langford.
Alice is survived by her son, Michael Thomas Rush, and wife, Suzanne, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to School Creek Baptist Church or School Creek Cemetery Association.
