Carolyn Briggs Yancy

Carolyn Briggs Yancy, 85 of Lampasas, TX died Thursday December 7, 2017 at Rollins-Brooko Community Hospital. Carolyn was born January 18, 1932 in Guthrie, OK the daughter of Wallace Briggs and Alice (Corzine) Briggs. She was a lifelong resident of the area. Carolyn graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor’s degree in Government. She married Sherwood Yancy in February of 1955. Carolyn had worked for the State Comptroller’s Office and Abney-Hammet and Lynch. She loved reading, needlework, word puzzles and baking.   Visitation will be Friday December 8, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.   Survivors include daughters; Malinda Johnson of Idaho Karen Yancy of Cleburne One granddaughter, Meredith Johnson Several nieces and nephews       Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Briggs in 2012.   Memorials may be sent to First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas.
