Anna Lois Landers

Anna Lois Berry Landers passed from this life to eternal life on August 12, 2017 at her home in Lampasas. Mrs. Landers was a life-long resident of the Lampasas area. Her parents were George Wesley Berry and Anna Amkea Mallett Berry. Mrs. Landers was born on July 6, 1930 on the family’s home place in northern Burnet County. She graduated from Lampasas High School in 1947 and went to work for First National Bank. Mrs. Landers subsequently worked at Rollins-Brook Hospital and Clinic, where she advanced to serve as Administrator. She attended Trinity University in San Antonio for certification in hospital administration and studied accounting at Mary Hardin-Baylor University in Belton. She worked as a bookkeeper for Jack Clark and Associates, and successor firms, until she retired to help her husband with ranch work. In 1949, Anna Lois met Willis Richard (Dick) Landers, Jr. and they were married later that same year on August 12th by the Rev. R.A. Matheson at First Baptist Church in Georgetown, while Rev. Matheson was away from Lampasas preaching a revival. The Landers made their home in Lampasas, where they raised three children. During much of this time, they operated a cattle ranching business in and around Lampasas, and eventually became the fourth generation to operate a ranching business on the Landers family homestead at McCreaville near the Naruna community in western Lampasas County. Mrs. Landers was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Lampasas, where she taught Sunday School. She was a loving mother, highly devoted to family, and gave her children and grandchildren a strong Christian foundation.   Mrs. Landers is survived by her husband of 68 years, Willis Richard (Dick) Landers, Jr., of Lampasas, her children: Glenn Berry Landers, of Jacksonville, Florida, James Ronald Landers and wife Paula Cantrell Landers, of Houston, Texas, and Marianne Landers Banks and husband Brian Stacy Banks, of Springfield, Missouri, five grandchildren: Tyler Cantrell Landers, of Houston, Texas, Brianna Marie Banks Barksdale and her husband, Steven James Barksdale, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Haley Elizabeth Landers, of Houston, Texas, Marissa Beth Banks and Aubrey Brooklyn Banks, of Springfield, Missouri; one great-granddaughter, Norah Marie Barksdale, of Raleigh, North Carolina, two nephews, four nieces, and numerous cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Wesley Berry and Anna Amkea Mallett Berry, one granddaughter, Heather Elise Banks, and her brother, George Wesley Berry, Jr. The family wishes to express special thanks for the kindness and attention provided to Mrs. Landers by her caregivers, Debbie, Mary, Betsy, Norma, Suzie, and her health care professionals during these last few years. Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Snead Funeral Chapel, and services on August 16, 2017, with Pastor Rick Willis of First Baptist Church officiating, and Robert Mattson providing special music.
