Derwood Jones, 80 of Lampasas, TX died Tuesday May 9, 2017 at his home. Derwood was born September 19, 1936 in Lampasas, TX the son of Attis Jones and Verna (Mace) Jones. He lived in Burnet for 11 years. Derwood graduated from High School in Lampasas and went to Texas Tech and graduated in 1955 with a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture. He served in the U.S. Army. Derwood worked as a city planner for Lubbock and in Alabama. He also worked and lived in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was chosen to work in Washington D. C. and receive special training for the Army Corps of Engineers. He lived and worked in Arlington, TX for many years. He retired in 1995 and moved back to Lampasas. He loved the outdoors and his dogs. Derwood was an avid golfer. His fraternity brothers were very important to him.
Visitation will be Friday May 12, 2017 from 1-2 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m. Derwood’s body will be cremated following the service.

Great-grandchildren; Zoey Ramos and Corrina Ramos
Numerous nieces, nephews and other family also survives.
Derwood was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nina Lee Rasmussen and by brother, Larry Jones.
