Clifton Hale

October 2, 1919 — April 5, 2017

Clifton Hale, 97 of Lampasas, TX died April 5, 2017 at the V.A. Hospital in Temple. He was born October 2, 1919 in Midland, TX. His family moved to Alpine when he was 6. Cliff was a WWII veteran who landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day and fought through the War with the 29th Infantry. He fought in 5 major campaigns, earning 2 Purple Hearts, 4 Bronze Stars and numerous other commendations. He later served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict, where he was sent to West Africa and became a cook. Mr. Hale was preceded in death by his wife Mildred (Knipps) Hale, by his parents W.O. and Mattie Hale, by brothers; Wayne, Howard, Bill, Oscar, Cecil Hale and by sister, Elizabeth DuBois and by step-daughter, Deanna Park. He is survived by nephews; Ronnie, Randy, Kenny and Jimmy, cousin Richard. 3 step-daughters; Lena Brooks, Sandra Bridges, Jennifer Scribner. Step-son, David Brooks and wife Donna Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand-nephews also survive. Visitation will be Friday April 7, 2017 from 5-7 pm at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be Saturday April 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial with military honors will be in Smith School Creek Cemetery.
