Gearldine Underwood

Gearldine Ramey Underwood entered Heaven’s gates from her home in Lampasas,TX on March 24, 2017. She was born in Sweetwater, TX May 19, 1930. She was the 9th child out of 11 born to Rebecca and John Ramey. On August 8, 1946 she married Leeman Underwood Jr., the love of her life. He preceded her in death on October 8, 2007. She is survived by 4 children; Jimmy Underwood and wife Gabi of Lampasas Jay Underwood of Eden Terri Reed and husband Ronnie of McPherson, KS Jeanice Robinson and husband Don of Lampasas 8 grandchildren; Christian Kurschat, Jack Underwood, Tiffany Goracke, Cory Robinson, Monica Stephen, Stephanie Simmons, Cody Robinson, Wes Kiessling. great-grandchildren; Ariana and Eric Christian Kurschat, Reed Goracke, Hunter and Kadenance Robinson, Lilian and Decil Stephen, Lane and Luke Simmons, (twins on the way from Cody Robinson), Caleb, Mason and TruAnn Kiessling. She is also survived by a number of other relatives, as she was the last matriarch of the Ramey-Underwood families. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Blake Reed. Visitation will be Monday March 27, 2017 from 6-8 pm at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be Tuesday March 28, 2017 at 10 am at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pioneer Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 3:30. She will be remembered as a fierce strong woman with great Christian faith. She was an inspiration to so many around her during her 86 years. She had amazing courage and a sense of humor. She was a woman of many talents and will be remembered for her quilts and crafts. She could not cook a small meal, it would feed an army of people. She will be forever remembered in the hearts of her family and many friends.
