Virginia C. Hankal

Virginia Nell Hankal, 80 of Lampasas, Texas died Friday March 10, 2017 in a Hewitt Nursing Facility. Virginia was born February 27, 1937 in Florida the daughter of Ivar Bredo Christensen and Nell Francis (Rowland) Christensen. She graduated from Weslaco High School and Baylor University with her Bachelor of Education degree. She married William Ernest Hankal July 26, 1958 in Weslaco. Virginia taught public school for many years in Lampasas. Sophmore English was her specialty. Virginia retired from teaching in 2001. She enjoyed attending sporting events involving her children and any Baylor team. She was a member of the Pierrian Club and a discussion leader for BSF in Temple. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lampasas and attended in Adamsville. Survivors are husband, William E. (Bill) Hankal of Lampasas 2 sons; Galen Hankal of Lampasas Scott Hankal and wife Leigh of Atlanta, GA Daughter, Donnis Smith and husband Russell of Waco Brother, Ivar Bredo Christensen II of Humble, TX Grandchildren; Virginia Hair, Galen Hankal Jr., Ian Smith, Audrey Mitchell, Anna Hankal, Libby Hankal, Mattie Grace Hankal. Great-grandchildren; Charity, Mallory and Jeremiah Hair and Collin and Liam Hankal Virginia was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be Tuesday March 14, 2017 at 10 am at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral at 11 am at the chapel, with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Adamsville Presbyterian Church.
