L. Sherwood Yancy, 87 of Lampasas, Texas died Tuesday December 27, 2016 at home. Sherwood was born August 6, 1929 in Coryell County, Texas the son of Franklin N. Yancy and Odessa (Daniel) Yancy. He moved to Naruna with his family in 1942 and finished school in Lampasas. He married Carolyn Briggs in February of 1955. Sherwood began working for First National Bank at the age of 18. He worked in many positions at the bank, advancing to Vice President. He retired after 40 years in the industry. He also ranched for many years. He was a member of First Street Church of Christ.

Sherwood was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Daniel who was killed in action during WWII, and by his sister, DeLoyce Yancy-Alexander.
Visitation will be Thursday December 29, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be held Friday December 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
