Thomas Wood

Thomas J. Wood Jr., (1st SGT RET) 80 of Lampasas, TX died December 17, 2016 at a local nursing home. Thomas was born December 31, 1935 in Chester, PA the son of Thomas Wood and Marie (June) Wood. Mr. Wood met his future wife while stationed in France. He married Marie Barbot and they were married 60 years. He began a military career that lasted 20 years. He served during times of combat in Vietnam and received several commendations; Multiple Good Conduct Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal. After his military service he worked for the Veterans Administration for many years and retired. He was raised Catholic and a member of Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Marie Wood of Lampasas 3 daughters; Jean Vanek and husband Gene Carolyne Bulloch and husband Don Patricia Larsson and husband Danny 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren 2 sisters; Judy Lewis and Kathy Seavers Mr. Wood was preceded in death by a sister. Mr. Wood’s body will be cremated and his remains placed in the columbarium at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas on Tuesday December 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with full military honors.
